DRIPPING WITH GRATITUDE

I’ll admit it: I’m saddled with consumerism just like everyone else. One of my specific vices is Starbucks. On their cups, they have a line about  "that first sip feeling"  and go on about the pure joy of it. It’s a marketing gimmick, but it actually sparked a deep realization for me. READ MORE

How to Find Community as an Adult Without Feeling Awkward (5 Steps) Let’s just get this out there: trying to find community as an adult is brutal. Not “oh I’m a little shy at brunch” brutal. I mean that specific kind of brutal where you can be surrounded by people all day and still feel like you’re watching life through glass. Like, how did we go from bonding over juice boxes and being assigned the same table in elementary school… to this? Now we’re in our 30s and 40s, sitting on the couch on a Friday night, doomscrolling, telling ourselves we love our peace when the truth is we feel left out, disconnected, and kinda embarrassed about it. And the embarrassing part is the sharpest. Because saying “I don’t really have people” sounds like admitting you failed some basic human requirement. Like everyone else got the memo on how to keep friendships alive while working, parenting, surviving relationships, dealing with anxiety, depression, and whatever fresh hell the news served up this ...

EPISODE CXXXVIV: GAGS, GAMES, GASLIGHTING, GOALS AND GREATNESS

So i guess I will spend this time asking questions that maybe people have asked or are afraid to ask or will go ahead and ask?  Why are we so attracted ot competition and this thought we have to be the best?  What does it actually gets us?  How does it make us a better society?  I look at what good competition brings and yes, the negative.  I am all over the place here so buy a map. MUSIC FROM THIS EPISODE ALL I DO IS WIN - DJ KHALED and "Friends" WE LIKE SPORTS - Lonely Island GAMES WITHOUT FRONTEIRS - Peter Gabriel ONLY ONE - Slipknot WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER HERO - Tina Turner/Ghost ME AGAINST THE WORLD - 2Pac

THIS IS THE LIFE

As I embark on my fifth decade, I find myself looking back. I think about the struggles I’ve faced, the victories I’ve achieved, the goals I’ve crushed, and the opportunities I’ve missed. When I really break it all down, it comes to four simple words:  This is the life.  READ MORE

The Doomscroll Trap: What Your Screen is Really Doing to Your Soul It's 2:47 AM and I'm still scrolling. My thumb moves automatically, swipe, tap, swipe, through an endless feed of bad news, hot takes, arguments between strangers, and whatever fresh catastrophe just hit the internet. My eyes burn. My neck aches. I know I should put the phone down. I know I need sleep. But there's this feeling, right? This nagging sense that if I stop now, I'll miss something important. Something I need to know to feel... what? Safe? Informed? In control? Except I don't feel any of those things. I feel like shit. Welcome to the doomscroll trap, friends. And if you're reading this, chances are you know exactly what I'm talking about. KEEP READING STONER

EPISODE CXXXVIII: THE HOPE AND THE DESPAIR

Inspired by the lovely anime/video game Danganropa pictured on the right, I decided to dive into the themes or hope and despair as they base the story around that.  It was interesting to me as I feel that we all feel this way at times.  I want to explore that a little bit more.  Why do we get that way and how to we find a healthy balance? MUSIC FROM THE SHOW SKELETONS OF SOCIETY - Slayer UNWELL - Matchbox 20 DROWN - Bring Me the Horizon MR BLUE SKY - ELectric Light Orchestra EVERYTHING IS AWESOME - Tegan and Sara feat the Lonely Island NEVER LET ME GO - FLorence + The Machine IN THE MEANTIME - Spacehog

SO WHAT THE F!@K HAPPENED

So, what happened?  Everyone asks when with people do shit differently with their lives.  When they start to question their reality and see themselves morphing into the very thing they hate.  People ask that when boundaries are put up and those who put boundaries up are the crazy ones.  Yes, when someone takes a different approach to their life, they are the villain.  Well in the case of Michael, you can just call me Lex Luthor if it makes you feel better.  CONTINUE

Stop Performing: Letting Go of the Version of You That No Longer Fits You know that feeling when you're at a party and you catch yourself mid-sentence, and suddenly you realize you're performing? Like, you're not actually talking, you're doing a bit . Playing a character. Being the version of you that you think this room needs. Yeah. That shit is exhausting. And here's the thing: we don't just do it at parties. We do it everywhere. With our families. At work. On social media. Even alone sometimes, performing for some imaginary audience that's keeping score of whether we're doing life "right." I've been thinking a lot lately about how much energy I've wasted trying to be versions of myself that never quite fit. The "always positive" guy. The "has it all figured out" guy. The "doesn't get rattled by anything" guy. All these costumes I've worn because I thought that's what I was supposed to be...

EPISODE CXXXVII: DOES IT MATTER

As we take an authentic voice with this show, we need to ask ourselves does what others do matter? If we live our life in a way that bothers others, should it bother us? Can we live a life without gossip, strife and division depsite gender, culture, and belief systems. How so? How does it work? Let's find out. SONGS FROM THIS EPISODE LETS GO - Methods of Mayhem MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS - Pigface BORED - Death Angel STRUT - KMFDM THE GOOD SOLDIER - Nine Inch Nails ITS MY LIFE - No Doubt

EPISODE CXXXVI: DIFFERENT VERSIONS

It's time to take a deep dive into the different versions of Michael I have been throughout my life to inspire you to do the same.  We must find the version that is real, that we love, and we can live with.  We must find all our wonderful parts, and our most unlikable and learn how to integrate then all together into the best version of who we are.  Sometimes, it takes deep work and removing yourself from everything to really get to know yourself.  A practice that I am currently involved in right now with other benefits and plans to make a version of myself that is better than ever before.  For those who actually love me and most importantly myself. MUSIC FROM THIS EPISODE WHO ARE YOU - The Who WHO AM I - The O'Jays I NEED TO BE ALONE - Girl in Red STARMARTYR - My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult TAKE THE TIME - Dream Theater ">
