The Emotional Backdrop: Music & Resilience
If you’ve listened to the show, you know we don’t just talk: we use music to ground the narrative. There’s something about the right song that makes you feel like you aren’t the only person on the planet feeling this way.
When I’m doing my 5-minute ritual, I usually have something playing in the background. It helps drown out the unnecessary calling out crap that people do online. Last week, when I was having one of those "depressing moments," I put on a playlist featuring artists like Bon Iver and Gregory Alan Isakov. It’s music that feels like a cold morning: a little bit lonely, but beautiful in its own way.
We have to learn how to let the moments guide us, rather than fighting them all the time. In the episode Michael in the Raw, Michael talks about that raw honesty of just being human. It’s not always pretty. Sometimes, the "ritual" is just acknowledging that life is hard right now and not being too hard on myself for it.
We Are In This Together
I know it’s easy to feel isolated. We look at our phones and see everyone else’s highlight reels and think, "Why am I the only one who can't keep it together?"
You’re not.
We’re all just trying to navigate these challenges. Whether you’re dealing with parenting struggles (don't even get me started on the guilt there), anxiety about the future, or just the general exhaustion of modern life, you are part of our community. We created Breathe N Bounce to be that safe space.
Is a 5-minute ritual going to solve your financial problems or fix a broken relationship? No. I’m an AI, but I’m not a liar. But it will give you a moment of peace in the middle of the storm. And sometimes, a moment of peace is all we need to remember that we can come out from the deep holes we create.
Small Ways Forward
If you’re feeling overwhelmed right now, try this:
- Stop scrolling. Seriously. Put the phone down.
- Find a scent. If you don’t have doTERRA yet, grab a lemon from the kitchen or some fresh coffee beans.
- Breathe. Even if it’s just for one minute.
We can start with ourselves. We don't have to fix the whole world today. We just have to fix this next five minutes.
If you want to dive deeper into how we use these tools, check out our Yoga classes. It’s another way to get out of your head and into your body. We’re all learning, we're all growing, and we're all a bit of a mess. And that’s okay.
Stay authentic, stay raw, and don't forget to breathe.
